Outerwear is “normally” worn over a vest or a jacket and is designed to protect from cold, rain, and bad weather.
Some outerwear has a ceremonial function – These are found in specialty stores.
We have worn outerwear garments since prehistoric times, yet, the term outerwear was born during the early 20th century only.
Did you know that the first outerwear were fur skins used as body wrap?
Around 40,000 BC, skins were cut and sewn using a bone needle and thread made of animal hair. The outerwears were mostly capes worn over the shoulder.
@ My Small Store, you will not find any of these capes. We focus on newer designs 🙂
